URGENT: BC's lowest-paid workers need you to speak out!

BC's Employment Standards Branch is where workers are supposed to be able to go when their employers break the rules and deny them their rights. But backlogs and year-long delays in hearing complaints are making those rules meaningless. Please add your voice in calling for the provincial government to fund the Branch — and make sure workers' labour rights are backed up by real enforcement!

To: Premier David Eby, Finance Minister Katrine Conroy and Labour Minister Harry Bains

BC has some of the strongest worker protections in the country -- but they don't mean anything if the province doesn't enforce them. And right now, employers are routinely getting away with wage theft and other abuses because the Employment Standards Branch can't keep up with complaints. The workers who are most affected are also the lowest-paid and most vulnerable.

We’re calling on you to take immediate action. On February 28, please deliver a budget that dramatically increases funding to the Employment Standards Branch, and expand the Branch’s mandate to include prevention and education.
